Master of Public Administration

The Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) is designed to prepare students for leadership in public service.  The goal of public service and the environment of democratic governance are the main differences between public and private management.  Students entering the field must be committed to serving the public interest and understand that management in a democratic environment has different goals and methods than managing a private sector business.

The major objective is to provide the student with a generalist perspective of public administration, including tools for decision-making, an understanding of the system of governance in the United States, and a capacity to work in the public environment. The program is open to all students, regardless of undergraduate major. See our mission, learning outcomes, accreditation information, demographics and graduation rates..

The MPA at CSUSB is offered through both traditional and online classes. All classes are offered each year in both formats so students can choose the method that fits their life and learning style. While students may take all classes online, the Comprehensive Exam must be taken on campus. Estimated costs of the degree.

We are very proud of our NASPAA-accredited program. Our mission is to offer a high quality education in public administration founded in democratic governance. We are committed to public administration ethics and support the Code of Ethics of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA).
